A whole lot of questions, and one about the age of my amp so i'll post it here.

So YAY i finaly got my OR 120!

any chance on dating this puppy?

for all pics please go to: http://home.scarlet.be/~vermbe52/orange

I also have a few additional questions:

- As you can see, the power plug has crooked plugs. I once had a Fender Bass Combo from the UK but that one had straight plugs? What is the difference? and can i just replace it with a mainland plug like i did with my combo?

- The tolex is a bit worn out, which can be normal for an amp from the 70's. Where can i get replacement tolex that comes close (or even is the same) as the original? And does orange (or anyone else ofcourse) sell replacement fronts for this OR 120 (which is the graphics and text series i guess)

To bad i still have to wait for my orange 2x12"er to come it, can't wait!!!

Hi Benny.

From...

http://www.geocities.com/diytech_ct//timeline.html

...it looks like a '76 amp. Graphics and text, yes.

Why exactly do you want to replace the tolex / faceplate. Most would just keep them original and it's in fair enough nick - clearly used, but not nearly as tatty as many. Just gives the amp a bit of character I'd say!

That power plug has just been squashed. Throw it away and fit one for the sockets you have. Make sure that it is properly earthed, ditto the mains supply you use, and that the fuses fitted are correct.

It is always worth getting these older amps properly checked over by a good valve technician, which I'd strongly recommend for both safety and reliability.

I wouldnt recover the amp or change the faceplate if I were you. It will de-value the amp by a few hundred dollars. But if you must Orange sells tolex. Give them a call.

Most or all of us here would too I'd suspect. Leave it as it is - it looks great! I think old amps which look like old amps always look great!

If you want one which matches your cab more closely I'd sell yours and buy a '90s reissue in top nick...
Or find an older cab...
Or just put some serious wear on your new cab... :D
