Maybe someone can help you date your Orange Amplifier?

can anybody answer tell me how old it is, the serial number is 2440, and its 15 ohms and has a single input

Cab dating is tricky. Best bet is to see if you can date the speakers inside. (Many / most types had date codes either on the frame or printed on the cones.) If original to the cab they'll give you a ball park date, bearing in mind that the speakers are going to be at least slightly older than the cab.
Other than that post some pics here and see if someone can help further.
