OK- opened it up. Date tag reads:

6-7-78
so I'm assuming July 6th 1978

Hey, riding on the wave that people are taking their amps to bits, I thought it was about time I got to grips with my Overdrive Series 2, so yesterday I took it apart and lo and behold! I've got a date tag too! HOORAH! Well, I've determined the date it was tested. That would be 22nd of the 7th 1977! Same year as Star Wars! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!

Ps. anyone recommend a good reverb unit I could use? Someone was saying stuff about Electro Harmonix Holy Grail but its abit steep and the only true bypass mod version seems to be only available in the US.

as well as the serial number of 10889 stamped into my amps metal chassis the amp aslo has a black metal plate plate on the rear cover with the number 4442 stamped into the plate. whats that?
come on mr cooper, you must have some idea on how we can date our amps?
i also think its a hoot how geert advertises his orange site in here in his replies. good one geert, luv it!
