Hi michael, and welcome!
Looks to be a '76 serial number.

Nice amp! Personally I think the black Oranges look great.
As you're aware it has clearly been converted to an OR 120 at some point. (Only difference is the two extra valve sockets wired in - transformers etc were identical for the two models.)
Andy.

Only dimly aware of existence, a dimly existing awareness...
You get a wonderful view from the point of no return.

I used to own a black OR80 that dated to 1976.... Great amps... not as thick in tone as the older Orange amps though.... Your amp should have EL34's and two less power tubes so it has been modded.... But not a bad mod at all...... Mine had two original Orange 2x12 horned cabs with it that also had black tolex..... Old orange amps are very hard to find with black tolex... Very Very rare!!
thanks andy and rally car.
really appreciate your responses.
so the modification of adding two more output tubes shouldn't hurt the value of the amp in the future? it appears to have been done correctly as i've had no problems with it.
vice versa, it appears the black covering should help the value!
i rarely play through the amp anymore. way too loud for my family! i used to run it through a cabinet containing a 15" altec lansing and boy could it crank.
thanks again!
