Hi there,

I'm new on here and need some advice.

I bought an orange amp head a few years back privately but only used for about a year as I went back to mainly playing bass. Its just sitting aroungd so I want to sell it as I know lots of people love these heads and its doing nothing for nobody (apart from looking nice!) at the moment.

Problem is I have no idea how old it is, to even begin thinking of where to sell it.

here is as much as I know:

OR120 Overdrive
Serial number:120093

Any advice from you guys would be much Appreciated!!

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan.

Welcome to the forum.

First I'll just have to point out there is a strict rule against trading on the forum, which is after all here c/o Orange Amps.

Second thing is to point out that although basically guitar amps, there is no rule against using your Orange Overdrive for bass. I've been using mine for just that for the past 25 years... ;)

These amps don't have the greatest amount of clean headroom, but with a reasonably efficient bass cab (/ cabs) they can easily put out sufficient volume for most medium sized gigs. Especially if you don't mind a little edge of valve drive on your sound. And the tones available are very good indeed. Worth thinking about. :)

Hi Jonathan!

What does your amp look like? Does it have any text below the symbols on the front panel? I think 120xxx (6 digits) would make your amp a '72 "pics only" OR120 according to serials given on Geert Jacob's Orange field guide:
http://www.orangefg.com/

Here's another site that has pictures of different vintage Oranges:
http://www.soulbuzz.de/orange/frame2.html
Press the 'tops' button on the top. Which one is it? Models with text desctriptions and master volumes were done a few years later than pics only amps.

Thanks to both of you guys for the advice...

Yeah, I'd thought about using it for Bass but I have a 70's Fender Bassman thats done me proud for years.

I'll try your links Bedford and see what I can discover! Thanks again!
