hi

I would like to know when these heads (OR 112 M) have been produced, and when the production has been stopped.

I'll give you the serial later for more informations...

Thanks

Haven't a clue, ludoclub! 112 M head? New one on me... Sounds more like a combo sort of name. I wonder if it was possibly re-housed in a head box???
Interesting though. Could you describe it further. Front panel, number of valves? Pictures would really help if possible.
My 120 Overdrive head from '78 has the model type 120 M. I always thought the 'M' applied to the overdrives (80 / 120 watt models). They were made from I think '76 until about late '78 ish as far as I know, when Orange closed down. (They started production again in the early '90's).
You could check out Geert Jacobs unofficial Orange website and see if there is anything at all similar there:
http://users.pandora.be/geertjacobs/orange_page.htm
Do get back with more info when you can.

(Can anyone else throw any light on this?)

Ah, okay. The amp at the top of that page? Does it also say 'Super bass' on the front panel, or something different?
If you go to Geerts site (I gave it above), scroll down to 'Overdrive Series', and click on 'Series II Head' under that, there is another head that looks similar.
I have never seen any of these Series II's myself, apart from pictured there. There can't have been too many of them made before Orange shut down I guess. Perhaps you could send more details of your amp to Geert, (address on his site), and here of course.
Interesting!

hi
Now I got everything on my amp

it's the overdrive serie II (like in the first picture)
model n° OR112M (I knew I'm not crazy)
serial n° 016129

So how can I date it? I know it's late 1970 but I would like to know more...

Well, unfortunately it seems that Orange didn't keep accurate records of the serial numbers. The later amps often had a date tag inside though, and you might be lucky:
eg My overdrive s/n 015637 has a date of 10th Aug '78.
Perhaps <b>you'll</b> be able to tell <b>us</b> just how late Orange were still putting these out in the late '70's...
Careful though if it has been powered up recently. The big capacitors inside can hold a big charge for many days - enough to give you a big shock! Just don't go prodding around inside.
Is the amp working well? If you're not sure, do get it checked over by a good amp tech to be on the safe side!
