I have had this for years but seldom used it due to a lack of musical talent.

Newer Pictures - http://www.starshine.pwp.blueyonder.co. ... nknown.htm
*********************************************************
I bought it in 1979 from a friend of the family and was told it was a 60 watt bass amp.
It has not been used for years, but was working the last time it was.
The whearabouts of the missing valve is known. As is the aluminium cover that goes somewhere on the bottom.
I have hunted the Orange sites and can not find another one the same, many similar but not exactly alike.
The Black vinyl covering was done by myself, as when I got it it had been painted with orange emulsion.
I can not find any serial numbers or any other form of identification.
Any information at all would be greatly appreciated

Mmm, right, first of all it says Orange Matamp, which suggests its very early 70's if not late 60's also looking at:
http://users.pandora.be/geertjacobs/orange_page.htm
Your chassis isnt orange, which also suggests its an early model.
i would say have a talk to Matamp, i would have thought that they could tell you its possable age etc...

As mentioned, the case has been recovered.
It was the original Orange when I first got it, but had been painted.
None of the pictures on that site match exactly, the closest is the OR100 head but it has jacks for echo that mine does not have.
I will try contacting Matamp and see if they can help though thanks.

I would say that due to it not having that, it suggests that it was an earlier model than to one shown.

"...but it has jacks for echo that mine does not have."
Looks to me like the 2 black sockets to the left of the "Bass" sticker are Send/Return sockets for an external echo unit (The resistors mounted on the sockets should be 100K - IE the coloured hoops are Brown/Black/Yellow/(Possibly Silver, Maybe NO fourth band).
From the photos, they're wired in the correct place for this function.
I don't know if this is the case for Orange amps, but "Bass" models
usually have no more than a handful of variations in parts values
(Certainly true of Vox, WEM, early Marshalls).
Sometimes, the only variation is in which sticker gets glued to the casing!

The two sockets to the left of the base sticker are for a slave amp, Slave in and Slave out have been scratched above the sockets (cant get it to show in the Pictures though).
************************************************************
In fact the one nearest the power socket says - SLAVE AMP IN
And the one on the right - PRE AMP OUT
(My memory is shot to hell, I had to go and look twice)

The closest yet is the comparison with the Matamp Series 2000.
I have put up a wee page to point out some of the differences.
