I have been getting a couple different stories of which outputs I should be using to hook up my ad140tc and 4X12 cab. when I bought it I was told to use the 8ohm output on the head..the speaker cabinet says the impedance in 16ohms and when I talked to another person about it they said that the ohms should match so would I want to use the 16ohm output on the head so they match? or does the cabinet cut down to 8ohms when there is only one cable plugged in...I know this seems really basic..I just want to make sure that it's right..
so which is the right way?

thanks for the help
Ryan

and how would you hook a 2X12 cabinet into this situation? or is that possible?

How many ohms is each speaker inside the 4x12?
Same with the 2x12?

It is most likely 16 ohms. 4 16ohm speakers can total 16 ohms.
Look here on hooking up a 2x12 and 4x12: http://www.orangeamps.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=650
Your final wattage will differ depending on the type of each speaker.

A multimeter will also tell you your ohms.

16 ohm cab goes into the 16 ohm output from the amp.
