Looking for an amp that has nice Santana like overdrive if neccessary wihtout a pedal without going to full volume but using the gain ...just wondering if any Orange users can comment on the AD30TC having these qualities...went to the sound bites at

http://www.proguitar.de/AudioDemo/Compa ... eAmps.html

most of the demos are chording and the orange 30TC was no big deal..I know someone put a alot of time into those tests and can only present so many paremeters given limted time and styles ...

Been looking at Cornford AMPS http://www.cornfordamps.com/
and noticed they have some amazing lead tones with no pedals used in the demos.....so maybe that may be my direction next if Orange can't pull this off....

thanks if you can help out ...
Bruce

You've got to be kidding. My Oranges will sustain for weeks- sweet overdriven sustain. The clips on that website are only a taste of one setting and two guitars... and kinda bad playing. Go try one- you'll be blown away. Billy

Not kidding....just asking!...the playing is actually quite weak on that site...I concur....maybe Orange users should put together some decent clips...maybe if I get one... would love to help out...

Thanks Billy..sort of what I've been hoping to hear...

Cheers!

i don't think the agenda of the regulars on this forum is to convince other guitar players to start using orange. if someone plays one, likes it, buys it, and then comes here with questions, then we try to help them out. if you like cornford amps then buy a conford amp. its not our job to convince you to buy an orange. go play one! if you like it better than a cornford amp, then buy one! if not, then buy the cornford amp. no one here can tell you what sounds good to your own ears. a $1,000+ amp purchase should not be made based on a sound clip heard over the internet...

am i in a bad mood or what!

It's the old boys club, now I get it!!

no problem!! sorry to mention the C word, tisk tisk !!.....I'm sure Orange who pays for this site appreciates all this R&D you people do for them.....

I live in a remote area so the luxury of just trying one out isn't an option, so sound clips do help with some info just for the record...and you guys might want to think twice about even referring that european site to to forum users in future... it bites!,or as mentioned do something about it (maybe the Orange gurus are listening).....also thought this would be the best place to get real scoop without stepping on anyone's agenda,so sorry!

I'm sure I'll get to try one out in the future....

let me try to figure out where it is.... OK.

go here: www.fayschool.org/should.mp3

it's a little clip from the unmixed, unmastered, uneverything'd CD we're doing and is my solo for our song I Should- Orange AD140TC half stack for rhythm/ AD30TC for solo- Fender Esquire with an added humbucker in the neck position and Lindy Fralin-rewound bridge pickup. Any better? Billy

Thanks Kris- I really appreciate that. For an idea of what Sheryl's voice sounds like, here's an excerpt from her vocal track for Long Cold Winter (a song I wish we had mixed already since we've had two major snowstorms dumping 24" and 12" around Boston!):

Nice clip - do you remember how high you had the gain on the AD140HTC?

I'm thinking of getting one :D

Should get some nice Santana-like tones if you crank up the gain, and use a neck humbucker on something like a Les Paul. Roll back a little on the tone, and it screams at you... but politely! No excess fuzz, just nicely controlled power.

Having said that, i've just started dribbling over my AD30 again having just bought a G&L ASAT special (Telecaster). Lovely tone...
