Hi there,

My beloved Dark Terror is extremely noisy when the gain is pushed past 1 o'clock. I expect noise when the gain is up but this is way too loud to be usable.

Nothing in the loop here, guitar volume all the way down.


I've changed power tubes and put in a quality TAD Tube at V1. Also changed the 12AT7 for the loop as it was pretty noisy with my board. Still the problem persists. Any ideas how to fix it or is this a "just get it to tech"-problem?

Before it goes to a tech, have you tried it in different parts of the house? of somewhere else? I doubt it, but I wonder if it could be some sort of interference getting picked up.

But more than likely a tube... or something else. That's not right.

Tried it in different power outlets and in rehearsal. I've opened the DT up over the weekend. The solder joints of the tube mounts look really shady as if the solder got overheated. Technician time i guess.
