Micro Terror and cabs

Post by [email protected] » Thu Jul 04, 2019 7:38 pm

I use a Dual Terror with one or two Orange PPC112 speaker cabs. The question is - how do I connect the two speakers to the Micro Terror head that has only one output socket? Can I connect them in series that is from the head to one cab and then from that cab to the second cab?
I was thinking about taking the Micro head to gigs and if the Dual failed use the Micro as a back up to drive both speakers. It already sounds big through one 12inch speaker.
Thanks

Daisy chain the cabs and run out of the single speaker output. That will show an 8 ohm load, which is the lowest a MT can handle.

Sidepoint: Orange's online manual for the Micro says 4 ohms is still ok. At full output the amp may get warm enough to activate the thermal cutoff -- first stuttering on/off/on, then shut off entirely until it cools down. But no damage.

The early ones were labeled 4 ohm minimum. They didn't redesign the amp in response to some complaints about the thermal cutoff -- they just changed the label to say 8 ohms minimum.
