Hi,
This is my first post, on behalf of my teenage Son. School show tonight & he has taken his amp into school.
Unknown to him 'Sir' has plugged his speaker out into a line out to a mixing desk.
Unsurprisingly he ended up with smoke, and now no power!
What can be done please folks. My lad is gutted.
Help please. Crush 60 some idiot has tried to use spk out as line out

I would bring the amp to a repair tech and charge the teacher.

A little unclear whether you know specifically who plugged it in. And no mention of whether the person who did it admits doing it and acknowledges responsibility (and/or if there are witnesses).

Have you checked the amp's fuse/fuses? There's at least a chance that's all the amp needs.

Hopefully just the fuse, but they dont make smoke when they go.
Hopefully, whoever misused it will pay f9r the repair. It might be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand one than getting it fixed though, simply because of labour time.

I cannot raise a schem to the Crush 60 but I am surprised that as an SS amp it died with a load mismatch.
I agree I would check that a fuse has not popped as I would always expect that first even feeding the speaker into a very high load (unlike a tube amp).
If that does not work then worth a basic check with a tech first before exploring liablity issues!

I'm afraid that's a little more than a load mismatch, which happens when the incorrect speaker impedance is used e.g using a 4 ohm load in a 16 ohm speaker load, that's a load mismatch.....the thing that's happened here is the output signal from the amp looking for a load has come into contact with the mixing desk also looking for a load...something has had to give and it sounds like the amp unfortunately. What was the mixing desk and its power rating?
