I just picked up a used orange amp from the UK that uses 220v mains. I live in Canada, where we use 110v.
I know I can buy a step up converter, but would prefer to mod the amp to 110 if it does not require permanent changes to it. One less piece of kit to lug around and break down. I’ve read that the only way to do it is to change the input transformer, but there are amps out there that allow you to switch input voltages with a switch on the back of the amp. Is it possible to install something similar without having to get a new tranny? Or do those amps just have some sort of adjustable tranny in there?
Any input is appreciated, thanks.

First of all, what amp is it?

I'm reasonably sure the transformer should have taps for 110 and 220v.
It just needs to be rewired internally.

What Ant said.
There probably are provisions on the power transformer for wiring to your voltage. Not a DIY thing, but an amp tech should be able to do it easily. The guitar amps can be so I would hope that the bass amps can, too. Offhand, I haven't seen a schematic for it specifically, but there are guitar schematics out there for this.
I didn't realise Canada was 110V - I thought it was 120V like the USA.
Anyway, the only schematic I have is the AD15's power wiring - maybe similar to the AD200B?

Re: Converting an amp from 220 to 110
110, 120 close enough
Just kidding, I'm actually not sure
I'm as much an electrician as I am an amp tech
I just know we aren't 220!
Thanks for the info, I will talk to my tech and get him hunting down a schematic!
