I use my stand-by despite me knowing it's not a great thing for the amp. It's not really something you hear going bad very often. From an electrical stand point it makes sense though. I really like the standby Traynor used on the YBA-1 Mod-1. It's not in the HT voltage power rail. It lifts the ground on the power tubes. Also, wired in with a transistor and a yellow and red LED, one color for standby the other for on
