hey, its been a while since i've had an Orange head. My hands down favorite was a Rocker 30 head with a pair of Philips 6Ca7's oulled from a Traynor.
i sold it because i was about to mod it, but decided to focus on butchering the YBA-1 heads to learn on. The mod was a OT swap for headroom for the 30.
In short, i have an opportunity to grab a RV50 mki head, and wanted to know if anyone tried retrofitting a cathode bias option in it. i've owned a RV50 combo, and an RV100 head, but they didn't have the same syrupy love the Rocker 30 has. Is this worth the effort, or should i just hold out for another Rk30?
rockerverb mki 50w, cathode bias mod?

Wouldn't be too difficult, pull a couple components, add a few. Finding a spot to add the parts would probably be the hardest part. When I had an RVMKll I pulled off the reverb tank connections and it opened the amp up.

IMO, buy another R30. There are more differences between these amps than just the cathode biasing, and mods to PCB mounted power tube sockets never work out all that cleanly.
That being said, it could be done. Anything is possible.
