Rocker 32 tube layout chart needed

Re: Rocker 32 tube layout chart needed
I was wrong about Ade talking about the cathode follower. The ad writer talked about it.
"One output stage features its own cathode follower which adds a subtle widening effect and an extra dimension to the sound, even when operating in mono."

Thanks for the help - would you recommend changing both the preamp tubes? I can't get much gain on the dirty channel unless I turn the volume way up.

Until you mentioned the lack of distortion I didn't realize you had started that other thread.
How new is "new"? Have you contacted Sweetwater and Orange yet?
If it's very new, Sweetwater might replace it for you.
If it's past their return/exchange deadline but it's less than 90 days old, Orange will check it out and replace any bad tubes for free.
Be aware that while we all said "it's most likely a tube problem", there's a chance it's something other than tubes.
It could be both of the first two preamp tubes. But rare to have two tubes fail at the same time.
If it's more than 90 days old, I'd either buy a full set of tubes just so I'd have replacements when I eventually need them, or I'd buy one 12AX7. First try it in V1, then if that doesn't fix it put the stock tube back in V1 and try the new tube in V2. (On Jondog's layout pic, V1 is clean and V2 is gain second and third stage.)

That sounds like a great approach - my amp is over 90 days so I'll make the change myself. I reviewed some YouTube videos and it looks pretty easy. Any suggestions as to which preamp tube to buy? Everyone seems to have a different choice. I was thinking about the tong sols or JJs. The GTs might be nice too.
Re: Rocker 32 tube layout chart needed
I really like EHX and Mesa.
Re: Rocker 32 tube layout chart needed
Reasonable price, low noise, harmonically rich, reliable. Mesa’s are rebranded with their name (most tubes are anyways), but they do a lot of QC testing on them before boxing. If you go EHX, don’t bother with the gold pin version. No benefit in this application.

What you recommend for the V2 position?Jondog wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 9:33 pmReasonable price, low noise, harmonically rich, reliable. Same. I don’t care much for different tubes in different slots unless theres good reason.Speegman wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 3:29 amWhat you recommend for the V2 position?Jondog wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 9:33 pmReasonable price, low noise, harmonically rich, reliable. Okay - I changed the tubes in V1 and V2 to Tung Sol 12Ax7's - that's what Guitar Center had in stock. The amp is now very quiet and seems to work good. I have the gain back etc... The only thing I noticed was that on the clean channel when first putting power to the tubes there is still a tiny bit of static - not very audible - and then it goes away. Pretty pleased with the sound overall.Jondog wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 4:48 amSame. Re: Rocker 32 tube layout chart needed
Update - the small static is gone and the amp sounds wonderful. I let the tubes warmup for 5 minutes. I can get low volume gain with tons of harmonics and overtones.Speegman wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2017 11:56 pmOkay - I changed the tubes in V1 and V2 to Tung Sol 12Ax7's - that's what Guitar Center had in stock. Thanks for the updates. It's always nice to know how things worked out. Often we're all left hanging.
