One more speaker cabinet wiring question.....

Post by bobbythompson65 » Fri Aug 18, 2017 6:35 am

Okay. I'm currently running my Rocker 30 Combo with an external PPC412 cabinet. I have one 8 ohm output to the original single V30 and the other 8 ohm output to the PPC412. Works great and the 412 definitely gives the combo more balls. Now, I have acquired a PPC212C. I am planning on disconnecting the output to my single internal speaker and running that to the 212 cabinet (Both cabs are 16 ohm). My question is:

If I am running that way (One 8 ohm output to a PPC412 and the other to a PPC212) can I hook up the 16 ohm output back to the internal speaker??? I know some (Maybe all, I don't know) Marshall's won't work that way, but I don't have a clue if my Rocker 30 can do that or do I have to pick between using either the single 16 ohm output OR the dual 8 ohm outputs??

Thanks!!!

What Jondog said.... you can't do that. It would drop the impedance dangerously low and you could blow output transformer - very pricey repair.

Thanks! I thought it would create an issue with an insufficient load on the circuit, but I wanted to be sure.
