Orange FS-2 Footswitch cables

So can I buy typical instrument cables or should I use TRS cables. Someone somewhere I read that someone stated the indicator lights wouldn't work unless your using TRS cables - I find this hard to believe. Technically the cables are just channel selecting and reverb on/off so I would think your typical instrument cables would work just great. Its not like they are being used for audio.

Opinions? TRS cables or instrument cables?
