AD30 Blown HT Fuse - What are the specs?

Post by amonte33 » Fri May 12, 2017 3:02 pm

I've got an AD30 Combo amp that I've owned for a year now. It worked great up until yesterday when I suddenly had no audible sound. Upon further reading and investigation, it appears that the HT Fuse is blown. I know this is a 500mA fuse, but is it Slo Blow? 250V?

Would something like this do the trick?

Also, should I go ahead and get a new rectifier and/or power tubes or is it possible that simply changing the fuse will suffice?

Usually the fuse blows because there's an issue. I use fast blow.

OK thanks, I'll try a tube swap and a new recto.

Is 250V correct?

Depends on where you live and what the voltage is.

It really helps if you add your location to your profile...

HT fuse value doesn't change with different mains voltages, only the mains fuse.

But yeah, as Billy says it is always nice / handy to know your location! :)

OK, I will update it. I'm in the US.

So would that be 250V or another value?

Yeah, they should be slow blow.

If you use fast blow, they are likely to keep on blowing as the current surge upon powering up might overwhelm the fuse.

If your fuse has blown, it's likely caused by an issue somewhere, usually power valve related.

Yeah, it's the other way around. I use fast blow on the mains. Slow blow on the HT. T for time delay. T500mA.
