OR15 very quiet

Post by paul11 » Mon Jan 09, 2017 9:13 pm

Hi guys got a new OR15 just before Christmas and all was going well until last night. Played the amp a couple of times yesterday, when I turned it on last night I had no sound. I turned the knobs to max and no sound at all, the tubes are glowing and the power light is on. I plugged in the Tiny Terror using the same leads and that worked ok so it's not the cab, any ideas.

Even though the tubes are glowing, that still can be the problem.

Take the tubes out of your tiny terror, put them in the OR-15. Try again.

If the problem is fixed, buy new tubes. If the problem remains, get the amp to a tech.

Do this.

I have no personal experience with GAK but believe them to be a reasonable company - Do please let us know how the situation develops.

If you are swapping valves, try the power valves first as these are the most likely to be the ones to have failed. The power valves are the ones with the spring retainers rather than the bayonet fixed shields!

Tried everything with the amp I even took it to my mates house and plugged it in his 2x12 and still dead. GAK got back to me but they are out of stock and they are going to send a new one as soon as they are in. They said about a week I will let you know.

I misread this before, as quiet sound, as opposed to no sound. Those are 2 different things (your topic title and your post)

If there is no sound:

1) Replace the HT fuse
2) Put the tubes from your TT in the amp
3) Try again

I'd bet money the HT fuse is blown. It's usually due to a shorted tube.

Had this same issue, ended up being the fuse(T250mA). Keep several of them on hand now, but haven't had the same issue since. Good luck!
