Possible R30C speaker problem

Post by Gordy G » Mon Dec 19, 2016 11:11 am

Another post in my ongoing Rocker 30C speaker saga,i believe the Driver in my Rocker may be faulty,i don't have a 16ohm driver to test/replace it with, but i do have an 8ohm speaker(roland)in a seperate cab, which sounds a lot better than the V30(i believe that is maybe what the Amp should perform/sound like).
My question is,is it safe to run the 8 ohm cab from the 8 ohm tap(no other speaker connected),in a gigging situation, until i settle on a replacement 16ohm driver?
Thanks.

So long as the Roland speaker can handle the power, yes it is fine.

The wattage handling should be mentioned on the speaker, or the speaker model specs on the Internet should reveal that.

The speaker is the standard driver in a Cube 60 modeler, which was rated at 60 watts, but those are Roland modelling watts :? .at the moment it's in the Roland amp cab(with Amp removed).
I have used it with the Rocker(8 ohm)tap at Band practice & there was no apparent break up,so i think it will be ok.
In fact the Vintage 30 in the Rocker is breaking up much earlier, which is why i'm thinking it may be faulty.
I could do with finding a Rocker 30C somewhere & comparing it to mine, but i've never seen another one.
