Hi,
I'm thinking of trying a 12AT7 valve in the V1 position of my Orange OR100 from 2015. The purpose is to test how the amp reacts and sounds with a lower gain valve in the first position. I look at the OR valve position diagram available here,
https://ln-media.orangeamps.com/wp-cont ... pdf?05b1f9, and I see:
- There is one valve called 1 2 CLEAN
- There is one valve called 1 2 DIRTY
Does that mean that the clean channel and the dirty channel doesn't share any pre-amp valves at all other than the FX-loop and the phase inverter (PI)?

Unfortunately not. I did some more reading and then I did some thinking. One could describe it as a mental journey where I ended up in that all I've searched for was the early Marshall sound. So... I sold the OR100 and bought a Marshall Vintage Modern (JTM45 style amp with FX-loop) instead. Now I don't need to change tubes...

All that matters is that in the end, you have the tone you wanted!

This is exactly what I try to go by.

I will probably regret it some day. Though, the OR100 is a beast with a bottom end that I'm not worthy of
. Some day I'm hoping to buy a more vintage flavored Orange. Remember, it's better to collect amps than guitars. Guitars can only be played on one at a time whilst amps can be played all at the same time.
