I removed several glops of wax from the tolex on a Marshall head by using a regular household iron. You MUST put the iron on the lowest heat setting on the iron. Then place a paper towel on the tolex where the wax is and place the iron on that for about 5-10 seconds. I ended up using a single ply of paper towel. Repeat if necessary. Not sure if that would work on glue but it was excellent for the wax.
