I am restoring an orange 6x12 cab. Does anybody know what impedance it was rated at originally? The little "ohm tag" is missing.
I am going to put six 16 ohm greyback celestions in it. what are my options for the final impedance? Is 4 or 8 ohms possible? Any tips on working with the basketweave grill cloth would be welcome.

I don't think it can be done with all 16's! 3x16ohms and 3x32ohms can give you 16ohms.
What is the final impedance you want. 8 or 16?

See if this can help you:

Try this one. It has a good calculator. A 16 + 32 as a series paralleled 3x = 16ohms.

Edbig. You can have a final impedance of 8ohms if you use 5 x16's and 1 x8.

Row 1 = 3 speakers in series : 16.00 ohms : 16.00 ohms : 16.00 ohms
( 48.00 ohms total for row)

Row 2 = 2 speakers in series : 16.00 ohms : 8.00 ohms
( 24.00 ohms total for row)

Row 3 = 1 speaker : 16.00 ohms
( 16.00 ohms total for row)

Connecting Row 1 and Row 2 and Row 3 in Parallel

Total Impedance for this combination = 8.00 ohms

I figured this out with the first link I gave you. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the links. they do help! Still haven't decided though.
If I run a cabinet at 11 ohms would it be better to select 16 or 8 ohms on my orange head. Which would cause the most trouble?

Select the 8 ohms. 11 ohms running through the 8 is safe.
Running through the 16 ohms, the 11 is lower which will load it up more than normal!
