Question about cr120h and ohms
I just ordered the cr120h head and realized that one of my marshall cabs is only mono at 8 ohms. The orange head doesn't let you choose it just says 16 ohm, however in parenthesis it says 8 ohm minimum. So even though there's not a switch will I be able to use the marshall cab or no? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Question about cr120h and ohms
You can either connect two 16-ohm cabs or one 8-ohm cab to the CR120H. The reason there is no impedance selector on the head is that solid-state amps do not require impedance matching. Just don't go below the 8-ohm minimum.

So am I not able to plug in one 16 ohm cab??Randy Bass wrote:You can either connect two 16-ohm cabs or one 8-ohm cab to the CR120H. The reason there is no impedance selector on the head is that solid-state amps do not require impedance matching. Just don't go below the 8-ohm minimum.

I'm guessing you haven't downloaded or read the manual. It's here:Avaryen wrote:So am I not able to plug in one 16 ohm cab??Randy Bass wrote:You can either connect two 16-ohm cabs or one 8-ohm cab to the CR120H. It states:
CR120H
Make sure the correct speaker load is connected
Do not connect a speaker load which is less than 8 Ohms:
1 x 16 Ohm Cabinet –connect to either speaker output
1 x 8 Ohm Cabinet - connect to either speaker output
2 x 16 Ohm Cabinets – Connect to both speaker outputs

I'm actually still waiting to receive the head

Re: Question about cr120h and ohms
I suppose it would have been clearer to say "...up to two 16-ohm cabs".

Could you connect both 16 Ohm outputs on the CR120H into both 16 Ohm inputs of the PPC412 HP8 400w Stereo Cab?
Re: Question about cr120h and ohms
Why would you do that?DigiCol wrote:Could you connect both 16 Ohm outputs on the CR120H into both 16 Ohm inputs of the PPC412 HP8 400w Stereo Cab?

Re: Question about cr120h and ohms
It's a stereo cab that runs at 200w per side at 16 Ohm's or 400w @ 8 Ohm's when connected in mono? So was just wondering what the best configuration was with a CR120H head as it has 2x16 Ohm outputs capable of running 2 separate 16 Ohm Cabs.Bensnake wrote: Why would you do that?
Re: Question about cr120h and ohms
The amp sees an 8ohms load either way. The CR120 is a solid state amp that lacks output transformer. It doesn't behave like a tube amp. Se Randy's answer above and mine in your own thread.DigiCol wrote:It's a stereo cab that runs at 200w per side at 16 Ohm's or 400w @ 8 Ohm's when connected in mono?
