Crush Pix CR20LDX overdrive blends with clean?

Post by bill0287 » Wed Oct 09, 2013 12:11 am

I just received this amp new but as a restock. It is supposed to be fully functional, so I don't know if this is defective or not.

When I use the overdrive switch on this amp, I am hearing a blend of clean signal and over driven signal. Even at max overdrive, I still hear clean, and to be honest, the overdrive is very buzzy to me.

Should I be hearing it like this or is the amp defective?

Thanks for your help.

Bill

That's how the overdrive function was on my Crush 30R. It's not really a second channel, but more of a "gain boost" function that introduces some clipping diodes into the circuit. I didn't like it very much.

Thanks.

I agree... I really don't see the value in that design. Hopefully some distortion in front of the clean channel (which I do like) will give me the tone I want.

Yeah - I thought the cleans were amazing for a solid-state practice amp. Hopefully a good pedal will make it more useful for you.
