Go after the seller. Threaten all avenues of recourse because that's pretty messed up if you paid a bunch for it. Good luck.

It is a good idea to contact Orange so they can try to put a stop to it, but I doubt there's a definitive way to stop Chinese counterfeitting.

If you paid with Paypal, contact Ebay as soon as possible. Ebay nearly always sides with the buyer so as long as you return it Paypal should refund the money whether the seller likes it or not. Probably wont get your return shipping costs but id live with that.

Interestingly the two that I have here, not hard-wired, a Korean one and a Chinese one both have 'serial' spelt 'serieal' so that seems to be a little glitch by Orange rather than any indication of fakery.

Why I have two here is related in this post...

I borrowed my original one back from my son and when I get some time I'll be doing some comparisons

From what I can tell, the non-hard wired units have 'serieal no' on the back, like this:

And the UK made hard wired units look like this:

Can you see inside your one to see if it is actually hard-wired?
You may have a genuine Orange TT from PRC that somebody has 'converted' to being hard-wired.
Also, what does it say on the front of the unit?

Cheers

Ornage seryaal nubmer stoopidyity!

Chance is it is likely enough a standard MIC TT. (Especially if it has that misspelling).

Thing is it was sold as a HW...

Hmmm, Made in PRC?
I have an Orange Micro Terror that I know is made in China.
Orange has marked it on the back side "Made in China" NOT "Made in PRC" (Public Republic of China).

I think that probably is the correct way, and not Made in PRC... sounds like a fake...

Your absolutely right... I think I was a bit tired when I wrote that, Sorry China!

BTW...
A funny thing is that fruit "Orange" in the Swedish language (I am Swedish) is pronounced "Apelsin" and it came from "Apple from China" - Apel...sin.
And I am not kidding you, that is true!
