Orange Terror Bass TB500 Watts and speakers

Post by mrproxy » Fri Apr 15, 2011 4:28 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering how many watts of output there is per speakon connecter? Is it 250 watts per cab?

Thx

Doesn't work that way. You'll get 500W into one cab if only one is attached. The power will be split into two cabs. Either way make sure the cab and amp impedances match up right. (Impedance switch on the amp).

Thanks andy, I'm such a noob When it comes to electronics.

If I have a 200 watt cab, wouldn't I overpower it with a 500 watt head?

Thanks again

Jon

Yes you would. Don't go there!

Hey Andy,

I forgot to ask, if I'm running my head at 8 ohms to an 8 ohm cabinet, will that half the wattage to 250? And also how can u tell if you have reached the maximum capacity of your cab?

Thanks

The amp will produce 500w into 8 or 4 ohms, i've never noticed any difference in loudness running mine into a single cab at 8ohm, or both my cabs at 4ohm. You'll know when you reach maximum,
A. There won't be anyone else within a good radius.
Or
B. It will be eerily silent because your speakers have blown.
