Bass Terror 500w Head and cabinet question

Post by cmhadden » Thu Mar 17, 2011 10:31 pm

Im looking to buy a Bass Terror 500w Head but have a question about cabinets. I love the sound and tone that the orange 2x12 cab gives with that head but my question is does anyone have any experience with adding another cab if they have this particular set up? I'd like to add a 1x15 down the road when funds allow but I worry that the ohm load and power output might cause the tone to go south. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

I run a 1x15 with mine, an old Carlsbro cab that i had a Fane Colossus 400w speaker fitted in, for what we play (heavy doomy stuff) it kicks ass big time & that isn't just my opinion, several far better bass players than me have said it sounds monstrous, i tried it a couple of weeks ago with 2 1x15's though just to see what it was like & it lost a lot of definition, so it's the Fane 15/SP212 all the way now. :)

Cool, good to know that it can handle running more than one cab at a time. the 2x12 1x15 setup is the way I want to go. just wanted to make sure it was possible.

No problems at all with it, (just remember the 15" needs to be an 8ohm too) & don't forget to switch the impedance selector over to 4ohm before you fire them both up.

I have been running a Terror Bass 500 with MarkBass Neo cabs for about 6 months - I run a 2-10 cab and a 1-15 cab, both 8 ohms cabs ... sound is fantastic! Sometimes for small club venues I use only the 1-15, and it sounds very much like the Ampeg B-15 I had in the mid-60's ... for studio work, I use the 10's for more definition and a punchier sound with less need of compression ... I love my rig, and at my age (60+) I also love that the whole thing weight less than 75 pounds, especially at tear-down and load-out!

sort of OT, but my bassist is going for that exact cab configuration to use with his MarkTube800. glad to know it sounds so good :D
