Power Scaling

Has anyone ever added power scaling in their amp?

I am thinking about doing the SB-84 kit in my AC30cc2. I want to remove the standby switch and install the pot there. Seeing as how loud this amp goes before breaking up and it would really make it so much more versatile. My only concern is that after a recent thread here about adding a cooling fan, I do not want to do that. What do you think about a heat sink? How have others handled this?
