HELP Rockerverb 50

Post by braces1 » Sun Mar 21, 2010 11:28 pm

I was playing a show last night and midway through our set my Rockerveb 50 lost it volume output. Cranked up you can still hear it but the amp lost about 80% it's volume. All tubes are still lit. I really have no idea what is wrong and before I take it to someone I wanted to know if anyone could give me some advice. I would appreciate it. My first problem with the amp. Thanks.

When your RV is off standby, check the back of the amp and see if one of the LED lights are on. I'm fairly sure this could be the problem. If one, or both of these lights are on, you've got a blown fuse my friend.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked and neither of the lights are on. Does anyone have a clue what it could be. There is a buzzing sound coming from the amp maybe this could explain something. Thanks.

i'll suggest the usual tube check - seems to be the best first place to look...check your preamp - if you have a spare one that you know is good, then swap it to see if it's one of those.

I got the power tubes changed. Still the same problem. The problem must be the preamp tubes. That is what I was told. Any suggestions on replacements. Thanks.

I would also try cleaning the pins and sockets on your pre amp tubes before changing them. You might be surprised...

So the amp now has had all the tubes replaced. Still at about 20% of its power. All the fuses have been checked. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Without inspecting the amp oneself, I don't think that it will be easily able to pin your problem. I think you should have a tech look it over soon. I would guess that it isn't something that will correct itself but likely get worse. I hope that it's nothing too serious.

Sorry braces1, if it wasn't the valves than you've checked as much as you can yourself.

It could be any of a fair number of things. Want to see a list...?

Thanks for all the help guys. The RV50 will be visiting a tech this coming Monday. On the plus side amp will sound amazing with the new tubes. Can't wait. Hope it is not too expensive. Thanks again.
