I'm considering installing a set of NOS Pope 6v6gt's (Phillip/Amperex Holland 1957-60) in my RV50. I was told these power amp tubes are the best NOS tubes for high plate voltages and hotter bias settings. They also get great reviews for their sound quality and character. It was suggested that Orange, like Fender can be pretty hard on 6V6's.
Anyone tried the Pope 6v6gt?
Anyone tried other NOS 6V6's in their Rockerverb 50?
I prefer moderate gain, touch sensitivity, and clear articulation. I use my volume and tone controls on my guitar to shape my sound and ramp up gain. Ideally the tube will react to subtle changes in the input signal.
I have simple dreams too. Just not when it comes to my tone!

I've never tried any Amperex tubes, but the times I've seen them the prices have been sky high. It will probably sound fine. Install them and find out.
Then if you don't like them, make sure you ship them to me..
