Does anyone know wether I can run an Orange 2 x 12 extn. cab with my AD 15 combo, keeping the internal speaker in combo connected as well?
Also could I do the same with Orange 2 x 12 extn. cab and an ADR 30 combo?
many thanks, Guy

How many speaker outputs does your amp have?

To hook another cab up and use the internal speaker, both need to be 16 ohms.
You need to build a parallel box to hook them up.
A speaker wire from the 8 ohm out, runs to a small box you build with 2 female 1/4" jacks.
Positive goes to both positives of the female jacks in the box. Negative to the other negatives.
You can then plug two 16 ohm units together and they will become 8 ohms.
The box combines the two 16ohms to become 8 by connecting them parallel, which you plug into the 8 ohm out.

Orange recommends to use only one of the outputs at a time.

well now I'm confused...I have a ad30 that's a couple of years old, and it has 2 8 ohm outputs, and 1 16 ohm..could I use 2 16 ohm cabs in the 8 ohm outputs, or does orange really not recommend it? anybody?

thanks.

thanks. one last question..I have 2 cabs with 12"'s..one has 4 16ohm's set up in serial/parallel for 16 ohm total, and the 2nd has 2 8ohm's in serial for 16 ohm's..total for both cab's is 8, but is it safe mixing skrs with different impedance, or should I just stick with the 4 16's ?

You can mix speakers of different impedences as long as the final impedance matches your amp.
If mixing speakers of different watts, the lowest wattage value gets mutilplied by the total speakers.
eg. 6 speakers total, 2 25watt, 2 60watt, and 2 100watt speakers = 25x6 for 150 watt toatal

Dragonaut:

If you hook both cabs up,they will each get 1/2 of the amps power and therefore the two eight ohm speakers will be getting twice as much as the 16's. From the amp's standpoint it's safe and could lead to some interesting sounds. Just keep in mind that you'll be driving two speakers twice as hard as the other four.

yep noticed that the other day...even though the 2x12 is on the bottom, it sounds as loud as the top 4x12, but without the bass of the 4x12.. oh well, guess Ill just have to change the 2x12 for another 4x12 :)

thanks for the info!

? I know it won't get louder ..I want them both for 'spreading' the sound, basically for the idea that stack config's were created for, having a cabinet at face level and another on bottom for floor bass.

thanks.
