Orange AD30 HTC + ___________reverb?

Post by the tahuna » Wed Apr 22, 2009 2:18 pm

I recently purchased an AD30 HTC and am more happy with it than I could ever eloquently describe. I am a plug straight into the amp/no effects kinda guy. I recently had a Fender Twin 65 RI that was an emergency buy after my Deville blew up hours before a gig. I borrowed a few overdive pedals and got through the night relatively disappointed, yet grew to LOVE the reverb tones in the few months that i had it. I know that WAY after my wife has our first baby I MIGHT be able to afford to build my own reverb tank, but want to get opinions on some more realistic options(pedals).

Gibson SG Classic
Epiphone Casino
BOSS TU-2
Orange AD30 HTC
VOX 4x12 - G12H30

Real reverb tanks from several suppliers are relatively cheap, and there are circuit designs around the net for the necessary circuits to power the tank. Nothing like the real deal as far as that sound goes,... and if you want just a reverb sound, there are several adequate simple digital pedals that will provide just that effect.

I would look at building a real one tho, if you are handy with a soldering iron, that would be my choice...

Hey I am using a EHX holy grail it has a slight volume drop but it gets left on all the time. hall setting at 2oclock ;-)
I have found fender/musicman amps have a great reverb but just not enough of it!!!
