I was just wondering if someone could help me out with this. Is it possible to run a Fender Bassman 300 through a PPC 412 HP 8?

--Fender Bassman 300--
Output-300 Watts @ 8, 4 or 2 ohms

--Orange PPC 412 HP 8--
Output-400 w (RMS), 8 ohms / 2 x 200 w (RMS), 16 ohms

I get confused by "8 ohms / 2 x 200 w (RMS)".

Will I be able to get 300 watts out of my Bassman 300? Should I use more than one cab?

I also want to use a Thunderverb 200 in the future, so what changes with the ohms when I want to use 2 cabs instead of 1.

Can't help you with the Bassman, but the Orange Thunderverb with a single 16 ohm cab plugs into the 16 ohm out. With two 16 ohm cabs, you plug each into the 8 ohm outs.

As far as the Bassman is concerned, if it only has 8, 4, or 2 ohm choices, no you're not going to get 300 watts out of the amp and you might run the risk of blowing up the output transformer due to impedance mismatch.

To me it makes perfectly sense that plugging your Bassman to the 8 ohm Orange cab from your 8 ohm output on the amp is not only right, but the correct way to do it..

Your PP412 HP 8 appears to have a mono/stereo option. In mono it's a standard 16 ohm cabinet with four 100 watt speakers giving it a total capacity of 400 watts. In stereo the cab is effectively divided into two halves, each with 8 ohm impedance and 200 watt capacity.

If you hook your Bassman's 8 ohm output to one of the cabs 8 ohm inputs, your impedance will be matched but you'll only be using two of the cab's speakers and when cranked, will be putting 300 watts into speakers only rated for 200 watts. Could damage the speakers.

If you hook your Bassman's 16 ohm output to the cabs 8 ohm inputs, your impedance will be mismatched which (depending on who you talk to) may or may not damage your output transformer. Either way, with this setup the Bassman won't be putting out it's full power due to the impedance mismatch.

The ideal option might be to rewire your Orange cab to make it a 4 ohm mono cab and hook it up to the Bassman's 4 ohm output....

Or you could get another cab, daisy chain them together (to get 8 ohms) and hook them to the Bassman's 8 ohm output.
