Does anyone have any advise for or against removing two of the power tubes in my OR 120? I would of course split the impedence by half. At this point I can hardly nudge my volume past 1.

it won't cut the volume in half so its not worth it, it will only be 3 db quieter than with 4 tubes going, and it won't sound as good. just leave it alone. buy an attenuator or put a master volume on there.

or sell it and buy a pig nose

How about trying a 12AU7 for your first tube. This has a much
lower gain factor and might do the trick.
