Hi there,

Since I am a rather skint student at the moment, I cant afford an ad30r (actually, i can, but the landlady wouldn't be too happy), i was wondering, since the ad30 head is a bit cheaper at the moment, and i have an old peavey bandit 65 sitting around, could i use the peavey combo's speaker connected to the ad30 without any damage to the speaker, amp or myself and others around me when i try.

From what i can see on the amp: The speaker is a 12" 8 ohm (i think) and marked on the amp are two power ratings, one is 65 watts, whereas the other is 200 watts.

Cheers,

mouldi101.

That should work fine... make sure you plug the speaker into the correct impedance output...

Hi,

Well there shouldn’t be a problem using your 1x12 as long as the speaker has a higher rating (which by the looks of it, it has). Also you will have to plug it in to one of the two 8ohm outs on your amp (which isn't a problem).
It wont sound as good as if you had it running through an orange 2x12 or 4x12 with Celestions or eminence. But it "will do" in the mean time.

Just to point out you say you were looking at an AD30R, you do realise that you don’t get reverb on the AD30 head.

I like it fine. It's not 'boingy' like some reverbs I know... does exactly what a reverb should do in my book, without being obtrusive. I've never tried a stomp-box reverb, but I have used several different amps, and it's far and away the best of them.

hmmm... just found out the reverb on the ad30r isnt footswitchable (unfortunatly this isnt right for me), but it is making the idea of buying the head more and more appealling (like it wasnt already)...

i know this is completely off (my own) topic, but does anyone know of anywhere in the uk that has the footswitch for the ad30htc in stock now, or am i for the while better off with soldering iron in hand, trying to rig up my own on a temporary basis (maybe itll work with the peavey switch for the while)?

mouldi101 (i apologise for my overuse of brackets, i do that when im excited).

It'll work with any footswitch... should work with your Peavey one.

Why do you need a reverb footswitch? You going to be using some seriously deep reverb or something? In which case, the Orange reverb isn't what you're after. Get an EHX Holy Grail or something.
