I purchased an original OR80. What is the pot on the back that acts like a power brake? Can some one let me know where to get a manual. Thanks!

Update: Your right! It must be a mod. Can someone identify this mod. pics are included

umm... there is no pot on the back that acts like a power brake. If you have a knob on the back, it's probably a master volume circuit that someone has added later on.

On the back of the amp there should be a voltage selctor and an impedance selector only.

Thanks for the feedback. My OR-80 is a 1972 original. 1 Owner. The pot on the back came from the factory. As you turn it left, the volume decreases and the distortion increases. All the way to the right you get full volume and a cleaner sound.

From which hole is the pot coming out off, you aren’t by any chance changing the input voltage setting, because god only knows what that will do to your transformer, valves, basically your amp!

Orange never put a pot on the back of their amps like you describe. This is definitely a mod.

If you think about it 1west, why would orange put a pot on the back that changes the sound like that? They would stick it right on the front where it should be!
The person who’s modified it has not wanted to wreck the looks on the front, so they stuck it in the back, more than likely where there should have been a slave out.

There’s a test! Has yours got a slave out on the back?

If not then 100% it’s a mod
If so, either:
A good mod
Your correct!

And I think I would be more than likely a good mod!
