I don't play in a band, play Metal/Rock through a closed back Mesa...............What do you guys like better and why?

If you don't play in a band, don't go with a TH100, it's way loud, even on the smallest output. And on 35w setting you don't have that headroom the 100w is made for.
Go with the TH30, and even if you start playing with a band later, it will be loud enough.
Last week I've played with a guy that had a tiny terror (15w) into a 4X10 cab, and despite the healthy drummer, he was loud enough, then a TH30 should be even louder.

Agreed. The 100 is probably too loud for many bands / gig, so would definitely be total overkill for someone not playing in a band at all. Through a decent cab (eg Mesa) a 30W valve amp is still very loud. Many players will never ever need more.
