A post made me think of our global Orange community and where we are all from. So I decided to tally up the totals by country of where the Orange forum users that post their location (hint hint) are from.

I actually was surprised that there were as many from the US. I guess Meole has me thinking that a lot come from Canada and I just suspected that a large proportion would be from the UK.

USA: 284
UK: 104
CANADA: 38
GERMANY: 35
AUSTRALIA: 20
ITALY: 12
SWEDEN: 11
BELGUIM: 10
NETHERLANDS: 10
SWITZERLAND: 8
NORWAY: 7
FRANCE: 6
SPAIN: 6
FINLAND: 5
IRELAND: 5
POLAND: 3
AUSTRIA: 2
CROATIA: 2
HONG KONG: 2
PORTUGAL: 2
BOLIVIA: 1
BRAZIL: 1
CHILE: 1
CZECH REPUBLIC: 1
COLUMBIA: 1
DENMARK: 1
GREECE: 1
HUNGARY: 1
LUXEMBOURG: 1
NEW ZEALAND: 1
NIGERIA: 1
SLOVENIA: 1
SOUTH AFRICA: 1
RUSSIA: 1
UKRAINE: 1
VANUATU: 1

Pretty wild. I think that Americans, as a rule, think that anything with a .com is a US site, to their defense... we just have to educate them!

And in second place (right behind the USA) are the 270 members with an undesignated country.......

I think that would be Iraq.

Where is Bolizia? Right next to Austravia, or Tanzapia? All three very fine countries, wherever they are.

So, what's with the most Orange users being in the US as opposed to the UK? Just America's normal obsession with things English? More inferiority complexed Americans like myself who are "too cool" for things American? That need to be different from the normal Fender-amp playing trash? "Keep your old A/B pieces of crap; I play Class A!"

All said with a wink and a nudge, boys.

More likely that it is just because there are about 40 billion more Americans than anyone else!!

Alot of guitarists over here in the UK are into Marshalls, but we all know where the quality is!

Most people here do use Marshalls. Theres a fairly large Mesa B following as well. Occasionally you do see an orange or two. Always a pleasant experience!

OK, it was early and I typo'd Bolivia... shoot me.

As a US person, I was always into the British amps and it might be a grass is greener thing initially but the sound is there- which I wasn't finding in American amps. Personally, I hate the Mesa things and I wonder if to UK folks the Mesa's have that grass is greener thing? I just always found them lifeless...

... and I found what I wanted in the Oranges. But the whole point of this post is to celebrate the diversity and global community that Orange has brought together!

I'd heard from my Orange dealer that in the UK/Europe Peavey (!?!) is considered a "boutique" amp.

Is this true?

No way! They are considered as cheapo amps!

With my Les Paul I know I'm small but I enjoy livin' anyway

in France Orange was in every serious music shop about 1978 1979 I bought mine in may 79. But as in UK, Marshall is certainly the more seen on stage ...Fender is present also (Ihave the three) Peavey is considered like cheap amps but the classic 30 and 50 are very appreciated by some very pro guitarists who want this sound ..But the interesting thing about bclaire search is the idea of a community all over the planet, of musicians who are very found of the Orange sound, each with his or her sensitivity and dreams...

Re:'grass is greener' and Mesas in the UK.

Definitely. Mesas are also very expensive and so considered to be 'quality'. However, if you're foolish enough to buy one you realise what total toys they are.

I don't know about Peavey. Over here maybe the Tripple XXX or 5150 models are at the same level "rated" like the Marshall JCM's. I think. Maybe even better. It also depends on the "scene" of music you play. Metal/Hardcore/punk will like and prefer other amps then Blues/reaggea/rock things. But if it has tubes, it's good :)

Let me try something, how people "think" about amps as far as i know. (but I know better :))

Verry good/expensive Amps
- Mesa Boogie (The MUST HAVE over here)
- Soldano (Very expensive)
- ENGL amps
- Ampeg (for bass)
- When you have a FULL PACKED RACK :)

Normal Amps
- Marshall JCM's
- Fender
- Hughes & Kettner
- Peaveys 5150's, XXX
- Hartke (for bass)
- Trace Elliot (for bass ...)

Cheap Amps
- Line 6
- Behringer stuff
- Other Peaveys
- Non-tube marshalls and others

Weird amps (so considered good ? ...)
- Orange
- Matamp (does anyone has one in Belgium ?)
- VOX
- Ashdown
- Hiwatt
- SVT
- Any vintage/old amp (soundcity, london city)
