funny thing...
i just bought one..
i am never going to sell it..

I hooked it up to a ampeg 8x10, you can get the ampeg sound if you want to... but the orange sound is far better...
it sounds incredibly fat... but be careful with the bass control if you play without a pick...

best thing i ever bought.

Check on ebay, there is an auction of an ad200 today...

yay!

Hi Macahan, wat is your serial number ? And is it a MK1, MK2 or MK3 ? I have a MK2 with serialnumber #083. And last weekend in a musicstore in Köln Germany I saw a MK3 with serialnumber that started back from 000 i think. Don't know it anymore. The MK3 serie are the "new ones", witch are not made in custom shop anymore. MK1 (but is never mentioned) and MK2 are still Custom Shop Handwired models. And MK1 and MK2 have also a diffrent name on the frontplate. The new models really have like "MK3...." on the frontplate, and the old custom shop ones have just "AD200B BASS".

Seems like there are 3 series of those AD200B's right now. The first one, and I think the one on ebay is one of that serie (serial 055). Then the MK2 serie, I have MK2#083 and I bought it straight from london in november->march 2003. They told me then that that was the last serie out of the Custom Shop, and only 90 where made totally of the AD200B ? But I don't know that is right. Then they started with band-production, and I think the MK3 is the result of that ...

I would never sell mine either. The thing sounds massive and I am verry happy with it. A friend of me has a AMPEG SVT 5 PRO, costs even more, and he wants a orange to. Ampeg can't beat orange. Go to our website to download a MP3, freshly recorded. The link is www.sixtoys.be -> audio. There is some kind of "bass-solo" in so you should here the bass pretty good. It's played with a 2000 Fender USA Jazzbass trough an AMPEG SVT 410 HLF cabinet. I also saw the ORANGE basscabinets, and maybe I'll buy me one when I win the lotto.

To make it simpel, this is the direct like to the MP3. Copy paste into your browserbar and start listening :).

i have absoultely no idea if its a mk1, mk2 och mk3..
but it doesn't say mk(whatever) on the frontplate..
just ad200 bass... anyway, the serial is #051.. and it's like handwritten on in that serial-rectangle... <img src="http://www.laserkliniken.nu/ad200/orangeback.jpg" border=0>
and <img src="http://www.laserkliniken.nu/ad200/orangefront.jpg" border=0>

if there are only 90 ever made of the customshop this might be great... but i don't know if it's really an customshop...

my ad200 sounds amazing..

it just says "#051" ?
Mine says "#083MK2", also on the backplate.

Sorry, but I can't see the pictures you linked to ...

So I don't know exactly either ... Only that they told me that "you have one of the last of the 90 made in custom shop" and "after this last 10 (80 to 90) we take it into band-production". And now I have seen a MK3, new, with lower serial so I presume that's one of the new ones ... I should have taken a camera with me, but I forgot. The backplates of the new ones are also different, its really a "plate" and not written on the amp itself. And most of the stuff is printed, not hand written. The only thing I know for sure is that mine and prob all earlier ARE "custom shop". I had to waith for it for 6 months, and not one machine works that long on an amp ;) lolz

O yeah, on www.proguitar.de they also have a AD200B, and that serial is #044 or #066 (can't read good, looks like 44 on the back, and 66 on the inside)(http://www.proguitar.de/ProGuitarPreisl ... liste.html)

Does anyone know what the MK stands for ? MaKing or Make K... I don't know. Maybe they counted the serial numbers on from "#001" to "#070", and then they made a second range like from "#071MK2" till "#090MK2", ... And when they started band-productions they strated from 000 with the serials, with a new print on the faceplate, and a new backplate. And the MK3 name on it.

Another difference I just find out about ... The "handhold" on top of your amp, is it with "black" or with "goldlook-copper" ? The ends of the handhold. Looks like a difference to me too. And now we don't even THINK about the inside ... brrr ...

I dropped some pictures of my rig/amp online for you to check out.

yepz, that's just like I tought. The MK3 series look totally different too, much more "commercial" if you ask me. Pics and stuff :) No more point to point would mean they are not outta the custom shop ... and that would mach what Damon told me on the phone like a year ago ...

What means that the serials from "#001" till "#090MK2" are custom shop models. Mine is point to point, so ... (#083MK2). And Damon also told me "only 90 are made in custom shop".

Mistery solved ?

Wouldn't it be super to list al the users of a AD200B out of the custom shop ? I already know some :)

#044 -- proguitar.de (Schwarzenbruck, Germany)
#051 -- macahan (göteborg)
#055 -- now on ebay (san diego)
#??? -- now on ebay too (london)
#069MK2 -- Benny Lamb (Denver)
#081MK2 -- Peter (Laakdal, Belgium)
