PPC212 (or PPC212JR) input impedance?

Post by psychepool » Tue Dec 12, 2023 9:09 am

Hello.
I have several amps with 4/8/16 ohm outputs and a Torpedo Captor X 16 ohm and 1 x 12 16 ohm cab.

Recently, I wanted to try out a 212 cabinet, so I did some research and became interested in an orange PPC212 equipped with two vintage 30s. (or Jim Root 212)

What I'm curious about is the input impedance. There are two input jacks, and the product description or jack plate simply says 120W RMS 16 ohms.

The speakers installed inside appear to be two 16 ohm speakers, but they don't seem to be able to produce 16 ohms regardless of whether they are connected in series or in parallel.

Does this product have a system where only one speaker operates when one side of the jack is plugged in? Or do both speakers work no matter which one I plug in?
If both speakers work, is it okay to connect a 16 ohm amplifier or load box? I am asking because it seems impossible to match 16 ohm impedance while operating two 16 ohm speakers together.

Please answer the question, and if this does not work with the 16 ohm 212, please recommend another useful 16 ohm 212 cabinet. As for speakers, I prefer Vintage 30s.

Thank you.

If the cab is rated 16 ohm, for sure the speakers are 8 ohms wired in serie.
