They're back!
sort of....
LED's, 9 volt in, tweaked design, but they're still freaking cool!

Sef is such an interesting player!!! I'll have to check his new band, I remember his previous one being really disappointing for such a talented player.

Got an email about these pedals from Orange when they launched. I was slightly intrigued by the phaser pedal. It has an interesting harmonic thing going on that kinda reminds me of my old Morley phaser from the 70's (which is dead at the moment). I cracked it open once and saw that it has a little incandescent bulb surrounded by 6 or 8 photosensors, and apparently thats the key to rich harmonics that those old Morley pedals were known for. Not sure what kind of guts the new Orange phaser has, I can't find any pics on the web anywhere.

I've already got a 1-knob MXR phase 90 script logo reissue (the cheaper one WITH an indicator light and 9v jack). It's... okay, I guess. It's a bit noisy. I would say the Orange and script logo Phase90 are similar, maybe the Orange sounds a little tiny bit better. And I know Orange philosophy tends to be "less is best" when it comes to knobs, but personally, I'd like to see more controls on it. They're using that big ole enclosure, surely they could fit two more knobs on there for depth and wet/dry mix.

I just got the Phaser and Distortion pedals. They sound really good through my OR15. I've been looking for a lower-volume alternative to my AD30TC but I really need a second channel. Keeping the gain down for a solid rhythm sound and using the Distortion as a "second" channel works really nicely with the OR15. However, if you crank up the gain on the amp, it hits a certain point where the Distortion pedal won't add/change anything. Kind of a classic Orange thing that you can find with pedals.

And the Phaser! I've never been a phaser-using guy but this is real old-school phaser sound and there's just something about it that I really like!

My plan is to run these through two of the open loops of my TC Electronics G-System which means I can really vary my effects and then add these in where I see fit. We'll see.... This is the setup but I want to find a cleaner way to set this up...
