well, I sold my OR15 and PPC112, because meh.

and i funneled those funds (plus a few other Benjis) into this gorgeous beast...

Tom @ Hoffnine Cabs in the UK restored the shell and sent it over in absolutely bomb-proof packing... the packing materials alone are nuts! Huge A+++ for them.














I still need an AD5, an AD30 single channel, and an AD200B and I'll feel like the collection is complete!

How does it compare to your other ADs?

I haven't played it yet... need to get a fuse since it's setup for 220v

I've got the AD5, it's neat little amp.
Perversely, my AD15 is more house friendly... the combination of excellent master volume and separate gain control really help.

I find the AD5 is good clean, but with no master volume, any crunch is too loud at home with the kids around. A shame, with no rectifier, single ended, it sounds pretty different to my AD15 - more like a mini R30 than a mini AD15..... a lit rawer, in a very pleasing way. not sure I'm gonna keep it though.

aaaand it has to be converted to 110V... Has a 220/240V switch, not a 220/110. shite.

Congrats! That is one sweet looking (and I'm sure killer sounding) amp. I love white amps and cabs. I have the Rocker 15 & Brent Hinds Terrors with a Marshall 412/V30s, EVH 5150 III 212, & EVH 5150 III 112 all in white. There is just something about amps in white being so elegant and stands out! Good Luck!

Orange is my first choice of amps (having 5x Terrors) and my 2nd choice in amp color following white.

Finally played the 140 last night... very interesting.

pre-amp behaves far more like the AD50 than the AD15/30.... which are both FAR more compressed.... which actually means that the EL84 power section in the 15/30 are compressing/distorting anywhere above "3" on the knob.

but yes, it's absolutely huge, and it REALLY REALLY likes the Fur Coat....

overall far more controlled/tighter than the AD50/30/15 but also a lot less APPARENT gain than the 15/30 (just like the 50)... which means the 15/30s are power-amp distorting almost immediately (the circuit diagrams for the Ad30/140TCs are IDENTICAL).

so, wow. I like it. a lot. it completely BURIES my son's CB100... he had to use an AMPEG-clone 600W rig to keep up.

also, I'm super depressed that it's so clean and pretty... I mean, I love it, but I'll probably never play it out due to fear of messing it up....

Yes, the AD15 and AD30 run out of headroom pretty quick.

Glad you like the AD140 - after the long wait, it makes it worthwhile!!!!!

As for the pristine condition..... only the 1st mark hurts. Takes a Stanley knife, or something pretty dirty, and make that mark. Then your sorted, you won't worry about taking it out anymore!!!!
