Tiny Terror vs Rocker 15

Post by Arthon » Thu Aug 01, 2019 8:26 pm

Hi all,

I have some incomes problem. Maybe I will sort it out, maybe not... So I am thinking about selling one of my 15 watts Orange. I have the Tiny Terror (HW) and the Rocker 15 combo. They both sound very much identical. I use the Rocker combo in rehearsal and my TTHW at home, but both can do both. I also have a ppc112 that I use for the TT or for stacking with the Rocker combo.

It's all a matter of features. The Rocker 15 have a effect loop (very usefull for delays, verb and boost) and 2 channel. The TTHW is a PTP made in England amp, so its probably more durable; it's also rarer. I also think I could sell the Rocker 15 for more. Either way, I am gonna keep the ppc112.

Which one do you like best? or Which one would keep?

PS : I also have a old 1967 Fender VibroChamp to play at home and a AD30htc/ppc410 for a louder live setting.

I honestly don't think anyone can say which one you should sell!

My view is that the TTHW has superb crunch tones at loud volume and is a limited edition but Rocker 15 is much more versatile , good crunch tones and really nice sounding natural channel for clean tones.

Your choice !

You are probably right!! I am torn appart :? , but I know I dont need both. I dont need 4 amps... Maybe I could put both on craiglist and see which one sold faster.

Nobody needs 4 amps ! Or 3 or 2 .....but it's nice having the choice!

Do you still like / enjoy using them both?

If the answer is yes then My suggestion is sleep on it.

The answer is "Yes!". Your suggestion is good; I dont need the cash ASAP, so I will see at the end of the month if I need to sell a amp or not.

But you Ronnie, which one you like or use the most?

Both, it depends what I'm playing...they are different!

TTHW for rock

R15 for versatility

Ad30 when I can get away with using more volume!

Do you prefer your R15 through the combo speaker or the PPC112

The R15 will be easier to replace than your HW Tiny Terror.

Not sure if it's any help, but a while back we had issues with childcare costs. I made the most of my gear knowledge... buying cheap locally, selling high with shipping. Locally people struggle to sell their gear, that's how I got good prices. Then took good pics, great description, and manage to turn healthy profits on each guitar/amp. It was stressful and a lot of work, but it got better after a while.

During that year, I got my hands on a lot of gear too - that was really nice.
Managed to keep a R30 and an attenuator along the way too.

If it were me I’d keep the TTHW. You can do a lot with the Tiny Terror and a couple pedals.

Honestly, I prefer the Rocker 15 on pair with the ppc112 (two speaker configuration). But the fact that the Rocker 15 is easier to replace is also in the equation. Also, I think I could sold the Rocker more because nobody knows about the TTHW except Orange gear freak, so I think I could not sold it for alot more then a regular TT.

True!
The TTHW dont take pedal very well when the gain is high, but I know play it with the gain dimed and the volume maxed. I can use a OD for more gain that way and it takes my verb/delay better.

When I had a TT I’d set it for a light crunch. Have a Mad Professor Evolution Orange pedal to clean it up and an overdrive for pushing it to high gain.

This is 100% my feeling on it. You can always buy another Rocker 15 but there are limited TTHW's out there and I am guessing their value will be going up while used Rocker 15's will probably be going down in value for a while.

I would keep the TTHW.
Some time ago I wanted one of those but had no luck.
Just yesterday I played around with my Bax Bangeetar or Walrus Janus Trem+Fuzz into my Ehx Cathedral Reverb and that into my Micro Terror....
That sounded surprisingly well with my Tele. Tonns of fun, can't imagine how cool it would have sounded trough a TTHW.
