It really depends on where you set both preamp and master volume.
You can get both volume and gain boosts so long as they aren't maxed. The dirty channel is LOUD.

Cheers, Can you clarify further?
How would you set up a Rocker to give rhythm/lead differential.....just run a boost without the volume/preamp maxed out on the dirty channel?
Any advice great-fully appreciated.......

I'll vote any Terror, I have 5x, unless you require bigger wattage like a 50 or a 100 Watt. Not that the Terrors aren't loud enough at just 15 Watts, they most surely are.

Re: Which Orange Amp?
If you crank the gain and master, you run out of headroom, all you'll get is more gain and more compression.
Set everything at 1 o'clock, you'll have room for more gain and more volume.
I wouldn't want to be more specific- plenty of other gain/volume combinations will work too, and what you want may be very different from what I aim for.
But the dirty channel is LOUD. I doubt you'll crank the master very often.....!!!!

Re: Which Orange Amp?
Most appreciated....what’s the consensus on the AD30 and Rocker 30 heads in terms of volume?
Is the 30w powerful enough for small-med size gigs with a 2x12, without having it cranked to the max?

Re: Which Orange Amp?
Both are beasts.
Been to a local gig with an AD30 - the guitarist had it so loud everyone backed off the stage by 3 or 4 meters.....
Sounded glorious though!!!

Re: Which Orange Amp?
Cheers for all the advice...... pulled the trigger on a mint condition Rocker 30 today so looking forward to band practice next week to see how it fairs...
Given the pristine condition, and an intention to keep it that,,, any suggestions on where it’s possible to find an inexpensive flight case for it to live?

I've had good luck with ebay for flight cases. The different companies are pretty competitive.

Re: Which Orange Amp?
How much are they asking for the R30? They really go for under $800 when they pop up. I had a hell of a time selling mine. I only sold it because I found the natural channel unusable for my needs.Digestive wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:42 amThanks for info...think I'm going to check out the Rocker with a view to buy (especially at the price it's being offered at)
Given no effect loops, or 2nd channel dirt channel, how are people getting a volume boost rather than gain boost with this amp? i.e can the Rocker be used for rhythm/lead easily by just running a boost as required or would this 'compress' the dirt further?
If you want a solo boost on the R30, I'd run an OD pedal in the natural channel. You can get increased volume on that channel and still use it as your clean when the pedal is disengaged.
