Hi,


I'm looking for the perfect companion for my Headrush pedalboard, and to be done, I am looking for :
- versatility
- an effective FX loop

I hesitate therefore between some models...
- Orange Rocker 32
- Orange TH30 Head
- Orange Rocker 15 Terror

Can you accompany me in my choice pls ?

Can't speak for Rockers, but TH30 likes pedal very much and it has probably the most transparent fx loop in all Orange line-up. No volume drop issues, high-end roll off or something.

What about the Tremlord?

I have 5 Orange Terrors and will say any can do perfectly, they all take FX pedals nicely. With a tube driven buffered FX Loop, they seem to be made for players that prefer using FX thru the Loop.

TH 30 or 100 clean channel is fully compliant with the use of pedals.

My Orange Rocker 15 takes pedal very well.

If you are planning to use drive/amp sounds on the headrush then don't get an Orange amp. Don't even bother with a tube amp.

Check out the their new FRFR108. Super light tons of wattage.
Orange Pedalbaby (your choice of cab).
SD Powerstage 170 (your choice of cab).

If you are planning to switch channels on the amp through the HR, then I think the TH30 would be a good option yes.

Ok so to fully enjoy my pedal, the best would be to use :

1/ the Orange Pedal Baby 100 with the PPC 112 Cab (for exemple)

ou

2/ the speaker HR FRFR-108

Not saying you can't enjoy it with an Orange amp, but if you are not using the distortion channel on the amp and using amp modelling instead of the drive channel then why bother with an Orange amp?

Did a quick check and looks like the more expensive HR unit has the ability to control amp channels with a TRS cable. You could technically control the TH30 and switch between clean and dirty. Really depends on what you are doing. Do you intend to have one clean and dirt sound and just using the HR for effects? Or do you plan to run multiple different amps?

If you are into cab sims (recorded guitar tones), something like the FRFR108/112 would be a good option (I'm going to be picking up the 108 for rehearsals in the near future). If you like the the live amp/cab feel then something like the pedalbaby/PS170 and a cab would be my suggestion (PS170 is cheaper, but the PB has a bit more "heft" to the sound). An upside to the FRFR setup is that you could roll up to any venue PA and plug in direct. All of your patches will have cab sims and will already be setup to run through a "full range system" and you will be used to this sound from rehearsing. If you go the separate amp/cab way, you will want the cab sim turned off (as you don't want a cab sim going into a guitar cab). This could make things more complicated as you will either have to setup cab sims on the direct out, but not on the monitor outs, or possibly even bypass them entirely when you roll up to a gig. I'm not 100% how the HR is setup to deal with multiple outs.

hence my orientation towards a tube amp at the start...

Odd you would buy such a capable device and not use all the amp tones. For just effects I would have picked up an H9 or a few Strymons. Oh well. To each...
