Studio finally setup!

Post by Dark Helmet » Wed Apr 24, 2019 3:08 pm

I use the word "studio" loosely, as I don't have the mixing desk sorted yet, but all the instruments and gear are in. The only thing missing is the AD15, which lives at church since that's where I use it.

I do need to get an actual desk for the mixer and other gear recording/production gear...

Oh, and we did plug the piano into the 600w Bass rig (2x10+1x18) and scared the crap outta the 9-year-old... that was totally worth it!

hosted from google... works for me?

and I really like the AD15, its complete lack of usable headroom (not complaining in the slightest) compared to the teeny-tiny bit in the AD30 really does expose how massively compressed the AD-series pre-amp is (and I did get a chance to ABC it with the AD30 and AD50, which was really fun, I was really able to isolate the differences due to the power-sections which was cool...)

The AD30 and the AD50 both need serviced, neither has been touched in YEARS and the 50 intermittently goes no-joy and then comes back perfectly normal after cycling the standby switch. The 30 I think lost a pre-amp tube, and it get played and lugged around a lot, so not a bad idea to have it looked at anyway... I'm looking for a Fur Coat Fuzz used right now.. and then I'll sell the OR15/PPC112 and start hunting for a "big knob" AD30HTC OR a single-channel head... and a trashed 412 cab.

Your privacy settings probably mean that nobody else but you can see it. See if it can be made public somehow - I don't use Google, so not sure how to go about it.

You're right, i love the AD15 for its thick chimey edge of break tones. Incidentally, one of the nicest totally clean tone I've heard, but very limiting headroom.

But set to the edge of break up, boost, OD or fuzz for more.... it's such a rewarding simple amp. 8)
