Hi all! I bought my daughter an Orange Crush 12 for her 16th birthday to use w her bass (and admittedly to use w my Taylor lol) and with excitement she plugged in...and...nothing. We used a new cable, tried w my guitar, also nothing. I messed around w the cable for awhile and tried again and for a few minutes we had sound, but since then nothing again. I took it to the music store w the cable and it worked perfectly. I bought a new, better, cable just in case and came home. Again, nothing. Any ideas??? It’s powered on and everything looks fine, and I’m at a loss. I’ve got a very disappointed 16 yr old. Thanks so much!

Before troubleshooting, and it may sound silly but have you turned both volume and gain knobs on? I say it because if the gain is on zero, no matter how much volume you turn on there will be no sound coming out of it. I say this because a friend of mine had the same problem once he wanted to use mine. I still own mine and your post made me remember that mine was acting funny in the beginning. I remember that I had something similar happening after using it with headphones one evening. The next day I turned it on, unplugged the headphone and no sound. When plugging into the headphone output the speaker is automatically turned off, so that could be the source of your malfunction too. Try spraying some non conductive contact cleaner into the outputs of your amp, and repeatedly plug in and out a cable, and wait a few minutes to evaporate the liquid. Off course do it when it's switched off. Turn it on and if it still doesn't work with your instrument connected to it, try if a headphone and see if that works.

If the bass is active, check to make sure the battery (usually 9V) isn't dead.

Is the volume on your daughter's bass turned up? If the volume on the instrument is all the way off, your won't hear anything.
