Rockerverb and PPC112

Post by Blowtorch » Wed May 09, 2018 6:44 pm

Has anyone run a Rockerverb through a PPC112 or through two PPC112's? I was considering buying a couple and making a sort of mini stack. If you did, how did it sound? I know the depth is less with the 112 than either the 212 or the 412 so I wasn't sure how much that affected the sound. I have read in places that people have considered the 112 as boxey. Thoughts?

When I had two PPC112’s I had one as an open back which really filled the sound out better. They’re boxy in comparioson to a 2x12, but not bad. I had a 2x10 Avatar cab, same dimensions as the PPC112 and it sounded great on my Rockerverb. Had a G10 Greenback and G10 Vintage and was probably one of the best cabs I’ve had out of a dozen or so.

I played my RV MK1 50w with a PPC112 and the results were quite outstanding. Probably the best mini stack you can get. And it is pretty much mobile if you are travelling and gigging musician.

I do not know what "boxey" means since it sounded awesome.

I think you will like the end product more with a 212 OB and the weight/size/price difference is pretty negligible when comparing the 212OB to 2 112 cabs.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter... you will be playing a kicka$$ amp through kicka$$ cab(s). No real wrong answer. Unless 2 ppc412's is an option, then that is the ultimate right answer. :)

I have and it sounded good.... but once I got an Orange 212 Open back cab it sounded better.

To my mind one 112 cab sounded better than two 112s which made me conclude that using the 16ohm output into a cab gives better results than using two 8 oh outputs IMO.

I'd recommend picking up a second hand one, still very portable you may not need to buy another cab ever again
